Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Here's a link that one of my friend's posted today. Most people will have seen it before because it is old, but thinking back since I first saw this, how is it that no one has put this technology to use?
Head Tracking for Desktop VR Displays using the WiiRemote
This of course uses the IR sensor on the Wiimote, however it also is very handy for the accelerometers (which interest me most for the CarPC) as well as just being useful as a bluetooth remote.

Whoop Whoop, Sound of the Police

Merseyside Police recently had their surveillance drone grounded by the CAA when they failed to apply for a licence after recent law changes regarding UAVs. Good to see they are aware of the law that they are enforcing!
Anyway these rules have been extended. Previously UAVs of less than 7Kg were not covered but now they require permission to fly within 50m of people and 150m of buildings. This may well apply to the UAV that I am planning to build.
Here is the full story on the BBC.
Keep the Skies Clear

The eagerly anticipated Iron Man 2 is out soon. Mickey Rourke's character looked a bit naff in the first trailer but the second was much cooler and he seems like more of a lesser baddie so hopefully won't spoil it too much.
Anyway, the reason for this blog is that I was looking at cool fancy dress costumes. Apart from the usual Ghostbusters and Stormtroopers was a bunch of guys putting together this kickass Iron Man suit.
Most have the light up chest reactor and some have made glowing eye's but check out this one where he has gone as far as building a mechanised face plate.
Can you hear me now!?

Welcome to my all new blog, documenting my exploits in the field of Robotics.
I use the term Robotics quite loosely, my projects include CarPCs, UAVs, RC vehicles, GIS and Mapping, Video Processing, Home Entertainment and Animatronics.
As well as a journal of what I've been upto I'll be pointing out interesting articles and useful information that I find around the web.
